I have decided to turn this blog thing I have painstakingly(lol) developed over the months into a- Wait for it- “Personal Development Forum.” Maybe I’ll turn awesome people more awesome.

A forum would be a place to share ideas and success stories, to issue personal growth challenges and record our progress. I can’t imagine a ton of people will be super interested in something like this (I like to think I’m pretty unique) but on the off chance a dozen individuals or so participate, we could have a pretty cool thing going. I’ve started a new job and have been pretty busy, but I’ve began to miss my old hobbies like improving myself. I’ll get a forum up today-ish and see about recruiting a few people to start some topics! If you have any ideas/tips to get my coworker to stop singing along to everything that pops up on pandora let me know. If you have suggestions for the forum, I suppose I’ll listen to those too.

Let’s do this!

In other news, I have a new job, a new couple goals, some career direction, and an intent to move to Seattle this coming summer.

SO I’ve officially been dumped for the first time in my life. It didn’t hurt as bad as I’ve been told. Been an interesting experience. NOW on to something productive- I’m sure you guys (see how I implied readership) don’t want to hear about my lack of a love life. With my breakup comes the resolution- you know, “I’m doing this different and I’m going to start doing that thing I’ve been meaning to”. You all have the pleasure of reading the resolution first- go ahead and let me know what you think of it.

1.	Moving back home(I say to cut costs, but we all know its because I miss my mommy)

2.	Continue working out, and work out harder than ever. Want to see some success? Go check the mirror.

3.	Save the world.( Go ahead and laugh, but we all know obesity is running riot in this country and I’M going to stop it, since no one else has taken the initiative. A website is going up soon called www.FitsContagious.com that readers are required to visit at least once. It will rock your world.)

4.	Make my damn dream board- I’ve been procrastinating that thing for a year now, I need to get in gear and get it done.

5.	Get a new hobby

6.	Maybe two

7.	Get serious with my blogging, get serious with everything else while I’m at it.

Well that is what I have so far.. if I can accomplish all of these I’ll be feeling pretty good. And will probably have some sort of award if I accomplish number three, so that will be pretty cool. I’ve been looking into Bouldering as a new hobby for me.. if anyone in Portland is interested hit me up. My brother is practicing magic now so I could do that too.. the world is full of limitless possibilities. The point is not what I am doing, but that I am doing something to improve myself. Do something every day to improve yourself in some small way.. I started doing that and look at me! Incredibly successful blog already. To be honest, my one-step-a-day approach has been feeling slow lately. Now I’m thinking two or three steps a day needs to be my minimum. My friends say I’m rushing through life, but I just want to get to the top of the ride(rollercoaster metaphor) and enjoy the view a little longer than most people do. Just look for the camera to snap a picture of my face during the exciting part.

Have a good day, go out and do something heroic!

Well my horde of loyal fans, I’m currently sitting in my BeachBody booth at the Clark County Fair, trying to help our countrymen stop sucking at life. Thirty percent of us ( 2/3 adults, 1/5 kids) are obese (thats 25% fat for men, 30% fat for women) and increasing. I want to help people get healthy and most of the people walking by won’t even make eye contact unless they are already in relatively good shape. If they are in shape, they come and talk to me because guess what- the are already using the products I’m showing off. It seems like all the people who need to get in shape are too lazy to even talk to me about fitness.. which I guess is why they are out of shape in the first place.

If you want to continue to read the blog, I require you to do twenty pushups right now. I’m totally serious, i’m going to hijack your webcam and make sure- if you don’t, I’ll ban you FOR LIFE (I can’t do this yet but seriously, do it). If you do, post in the bottom comments and I’ll give you kudos in my next post and on my facebook page (it’s new, check it out! ). I did sixteen wide-set pullups the other day in a booth here at the fair and I’m calling people out to do pushups with me. I’m turning into a fitness freak! I got called hot yesterday for the first time (that I know of) and it felt good. I THOROUGHLY encourage everyone to go out and get a fitness program- I’m doing P90X right now- and get in the best shape of your life

Being healthy, in addition to letting you live to see grandkids, makes you feel GOOD all day even if you don’t do anything else special. I’m looking around at all the people out of shape and overweight, and I feel pretty damn good about how I’ve changed my life and am pursuing a more fit and healthy lifestyle. I’ll have to post about this stuff on here now and then so I dont kill my roommate with pushup competition.

SO back to what I’m doing here. I’ve recently become a distributor for BeachBody(its like a Mary Kay program) so MY job is to help people when they have questions about fitness or nutrition or are having problems with motivation, etc. If you’re already doing a program and need help or you aren’t but you would like to, visit www.fitguyty.com and sign up as a free player (it really IS free, not some sales ploy) and it will put you under me, and I’ll help you with anything you need!

Be all you can be and make sure you do those pushups.

This really is a note to self, but I think it will be interesting to write out a thought process for others to read, and it will save it so I can check it out later. I’m kind of excited.

SO- I want to find out how I can use the stuff I’m good at to start my own business, or develop a secondary income.

HOW? Ok, first I need to figure out what I’m good at, as many things that I can think of. Not just what I’m good at though, but what I enjoy doing. Even if I’m not good at something I know that if I like to do it I’ll become good at it soon enough. It’s important to be a hundred percent honest with yourself when you do this, most people may be uncomfortable with letting others see into their head like this, but I’m trying to expand my comfort zone.

THINGS I’M GOOD AT- I really like brainstorming and I think I’m pretty dang good at it. I’m really interested in Social Networking and Media- like facebook, twitter, etc.- and the potential for their use as a marketing and research tool. I love to think, and I think I’m good at that too. It fits right in with brainstorming but they’re slightly different so I get to write them both. I really think I would be good at managing others, and I love big projects.

HOW DO I USE WHAT I’M GOOD AT TO GET WHAT I WANT- Well, first you should decide what exactly it is that you want. I’ll be using my example- Develop a secondary income or own business.
So, my next step is to try and figure out how to use as many of my strengths at a time that I can in order to accomplish my goal. Looking at the things I think I’m good at, brainstorming, social networking, and things that I enjoy, like projects and thinking. Three of ideas for myself right off the top of my head would be a project manager, website admin and blog writer. Each of these jobs I could do from the comfort of my own home if I worked it right, and I could utilize all of my strengths while doing something that I enjoyed.

The next step is to figure out which of these three things is most obtainable. I think a project manager could be a possibility only if I got a degree and work experience (I’m shooting for sooner than that) or if I made my own company. I’m currently trying to become a decent blog writer right now, so we’ll check that one off as “feasible”. I like the way my site is looking and my general subject matter, I just need to muster the creative energies to write more extensively. I have no idea how you become a website administrator or how much they get paid, but it’s a job I could do from any location I think and it sounds pretty interesting.

Just like that, I’ve found a few ideas for ways to make money that fit right in with my strengths. Obviously it will be a little more difficult for you, because I had these thought out ahead of time and you may just be starting. Try to think using these steps though, and let me know how they work out. If you think a step is unnecessary or you have one to add, email me! lefebvret@hotmail.com.

1. Clean your room – your parents say it, you hate it. But truthfully, if you are bored, take ten minutes and clean as fast as you can. The faster you go, the better you feel when you’re done. If that doesn’t do it for you, sit back and look at your progress, and try to compare your room to other people your age. My room is spotless, not because my parent tell me to, but because I can look at it and think “that’s right, I’m better than my friends because my room doesn’t suck.” I’m not neat at all, but just being productive with quick results can be satisfying. Even better, if you clean your room without having someone demand it of you, you realize that you’re the one in charge of how your room looks. Even if you don’t want to be honest with yourself, you probably feel good when your room is clean. Don’t screw yourself over just because you don’t think your parents should control how your room looks. Take the metaphorical wheel, clean it before they get a chance to tell you.

2. Do your laundry – Yeah, its lame. If you happen to be one of the few people who do like to do laundry, kudos to you. For the rest of us, we just hope it does itself. However, when you’re feeling bored, pop a load of laundry into the washer. It’s quick to start and once it begins you can say you’re being productive even if you just watch TV the whole time. Hell, I’m doing laundry right now. Not because I’m out of clothes or someone told me to, just because I know that if I do it myself when I have some spare time, then no one will yell at me to do it next week when I have better things to do.

3. Do Homework- If you’re in high school, do your homework ASAP. It doesn’t go away. It’s easy for me to say and really hard for you to do, but suck it up and get it over with.

4. Go make a friend- sounds cheesy but have fun with it. Go to the grocery store and high five some guy in the candy isle. I go to subway all the time and now I’m friends with the girl who makes my sandwich every day. I’m not an outgoing person by any means, but even if you’re shy a ten second adrenaline burst is all it takes to meet someone new. Introduce yourself to your elevator companions. Figure out what gets you in ‘the zone’ and use it like a tool. I got all red bull’d up on caffeine to ask a girl for her number because I know that when I’m hyper I can act without over thinking things in my head and getting nervous.

5. Write a book- Seriously, give it a shot. I’m doing it and it’s eating up the time wonderfully.

6. Challenge yourself to a game- Make up a quick game, with silly rules. Don’t do it at home, do it in public.
Guys- find a girl, convince her you need her number to stop the ‘aliens from attacking’. Don’t do It in a stupid way. “I need your number or aliens will attack!!” makes you a weird dude. Sit down across from them, and with a straight face explain to them that aliens are about to land to take you away and you need the phone number of someone close by in case you need to call for immediate help. She will know you are kidding (hopefully) and laugh. If you get her number, you win. If you don’t, then you’ve met a girl without a sense of humor and aren’t missing out on anything. You don’t lose either way.
Girls- Find a guy, make eye contact and stare as long as you can. Hopefully this will not only weird the guy out, it will make any friends he has with him uncomfortable as well. This means you win. If he stares back at you and laughs after a bit, you win. If he stares back with a straight face for more than about a minute, you should probably leave the area.

Looking like trash will get you nowhere. Dress the part of the role you want to play in life. You can stick to fashion trends if you would like, or you can do something completely unique. Whichever you choose, make sure it isn’t something so terrible strangers stop and stare, and be consistent. If you want to wear crazy colors, do it all the time. If you want to wear dress shirts and pants, do it all the time. If you do both, for example, people won’t get used to either style and you’ll just be some weirdo with two personalities. My brother dresses the colors up- converse that are colorful, bright pink hat, pretty sure he has orange jeans, and then shirts with neon pictures on them. It works, and makes him different from the unwashed masses and thus well-liked. I wear the dress shirts, and am also currently rocking plaid pants as well (that probably sounds gross but it works I promise). It’s how I dress and people have come to recognize it. More people ask about my wardrobe when I wear a t-shirt and jeans than anything else, and it feels good to have a style that is “mine.” I didn’t copy it from anyone, I made it my own.

Act the part. If you how you dress and how you act clash, you’re not going to make sense to anyone and they will probably be at least weirded out, if not worse(whatever that may be). My brother’s style of dress matches his personality perfectly- indescribable and unable to replicate. It’s just as unique as his personality, thus they go perfectly together. I’d like to think my behavior matches my appearance but I’m biased so I probably don’t know.. Anyway- Pick what you think represents yourself, not just what is trendy. Trends come and go but your personality is likely to stay the same for a long while. If you dress nice but act like a slob or have a terrible personality you contradict yourself(although honestly if you are like that you’re screwed anyway). Also I think I’ve mentioned this once, but DONT COPY OTHER PEOPLE. Dress however you want but be origional.

Note To Self- Buy more plaid.

Go ahead and make the conscious decision to be incredible. It takes two steps to be incredible, and they are easy. The first step is the hardest- making your conscious decision known. I announced mine on Facebook the other day. “I have decided to be incredible.” Deciding to change yourself in a drastic way(mine’s not so drastic, I was already up to awesome) is something I used to do in my head. I’d think to myself, “yeah, today will be good”. And it usually was. However, I’ve found that when I says something out loud or tell someone else just how awesome I’m going to be today, it tends to get me more fired up than if I kept it to myself. I’m not sure why, exactly, but somehow letting others know what you intend to accomplish during the day makes you more likely to follow through. It can be something as simple as doing the dishes or cleaning your room, or something as complex as stopping an addiction(I gave up candy) or making a big change in your life. Go out and tell someone you have decided to be incredible, and mean it. Even posting it on Facebook will make you that much more likely to fulfill your goal or make that change.

The second step is easy- Listen to yourself. Believe that you are incredible and you will act accordingly. Just have it be something you think about a few times a day or when you weigh a decision. Take actions that you think get you closer to being incredible and avoid those that you feel bring you away from your goals. Project your incredible-ness to those around you through posture, speech, and behavior and they will quickly come to look up to you as someone they want to be. They won’t know why, but they will know so and so is successful

Not sure how to act incredible? Find someone who already is, study them and find out what exactly is appealing to other people and then make it your own. Don’t copy them though- adjust their behaviors to yourself to be sure you are unique. Trying to copy someone else’s success comes off badly, I’ve noticed.. Anyhoo, I’ve talked enough. Be all you can be (incredible) and don’t run with anything pointy, slicey, or pokey.

Note To Self- Keep shoulders up and back and sit up straight all day.

As a teenager, the one thing I have typed into Google more than anything else is “How to Make Money on the Internet,” and I have always been disappointed by the results I find. They are repetitive, boring, or require too much work. However, there is no denying that these methods work.

1. I hear blogs are where the money is at. I’ve only just started mine, so I don’t have any idea if that is true or not but I will be sure to post how it turns out. I always hated how blogs say that blogging pays out, but I have never seen any statistics or proof to back this up. I’m excited to see just how well it turns out and I promise you guys once I have a few week’s stats I’ll post them up so everyone can finally figure out just how worth it blogging really is. To make your own blog, think up something you love to talk about, write about, or think about. If you can’t think of anything, write a blog about how to make money on the internet. All kinds of people are guaranteed to stumble across you.

2. I thought this up a while ago but haven’t had the guts to try it. If anyone out there decides to do this please tell me so I can read it and see how it turns out: I thought it would be great for someone who likes to write to write a book online. Kind of like a blog, where you post every now and then and people can subscribe and whatnot, but in the form of a story. You can write a few pages a week, and if you write well, you may find you have people who come back every few days to see if there is any new content. By making something with a running plot you give readers something to come back to. Maybe you could set up a comment spot, where people can give suggestions or feedback (constructive, only) that can help you get through writers block, etc.

3. Another custom-tailored Tyler idea- Set up a forum where you introduce topics that are controversial, e.g. abortion, cloning, etc. and encourage people to argue each side. You’ll hook some fanatics who have to always be right and score dozens of hits without doing any work! Again, I’ve never tried such a thing because it occurred to me as I’m writing this, but it sure sounds interesting to try.. Don’t tell people where you got that idea from because it’s kind of manipulative and not my style.

4. Make viral videos. Think up something that people would want to watch and tell their friends and turn it into a youtube video! I’ve never been a guy for that, but viral videos can wind up making people a lot of money, all you have to do is have a friend or two over one day and bounce ideas off eachother until you think up something so ridiculous that you think it would be a good idea to tape it.

5. Get a blog site going, and pay someone else to blog for you. You can buy decent blogs for twenty-fifty bucks or so, and put them up on your own site. You’ll have to work on SEO to get enough visitors to turn a profit, but if you can pick topics that are currently of interest you could score a ton of hits and make up your investment over a short time and profit in the long run. I found a great way to find out what is currently popular- if you type in “trends” in Google you will come up with a list of the top one hundred things people have been googleling recently. Write a blog on the top two or three subjects and watch your hits go up!

All right! Day TWO in a row of posting good stuff. I have some old articles I wrote a while back that will be auto-publishing themselves at midnight for the next week, they aren’t really on topic but I had fun reading them so I’m assuming you will too. Today’s topic will be about… hmm… The Slight Edge, a book by Jeff Olson. It’s a fantastic book I’ve been reading and Jeff, if you ever see this, understand I suck at citing sources so I’m just trying to make it super obvious this blog post came about because I read your book(The Slight Edge for those of you just joining us) so please don’t sue me.

SO this book- The Slight Edge- brings up some good points that made me think a lot. The book starts out describing the difference in winnings in say, a golf tournament. First place gets X amount, second place gets half of X, and so on. But the deciding factor in a golf tournament can be as little as one stroke.. one stroke doubled that player’s earnings. He wasn’t twice as good, he was just good enough to get twice the reward. I thought about this idea for a long time, and finally decided that all I have to do to be really successful in life is get the slight edge over everyone else. Now, you probably aren’t starting out too much ahead of your peers, but I think that just by improving yourself a little every day, it will add up to be enough to surpass those above you and leave the rest in your wake. Since I first read this, I’ve stopped making so many long-term goals and made a lot of short term goals that will have effects that last a lifetime. For example, a recent goal of mine is to keep my desk clean. Every morning when I get to work I’m going to spend the first ten minutes getting it absolutely spotless. Just a few days into this and I’ve already noticed changes in my attitude and behavior and my organization has been noticed by everyone else in the office. The immediate gratification and results makes it easy to want to keep it up, so I am.

Just by making little changes in your life will make it easier to change bigger things in the future. You’ve heard of compound interest? Same idea here. The little things are going to multiply and people will notice, and change the way they talk to you or behave around you. If you have the cleanest desk in the office, your coworkers who hate clutter are likely going to notice and appreciate your work. Maybe they will trust you with more work because you seem organized enough to handle it all, who knows? Set little goals every day and then meet them! This edge will go a long way, you just have to keep at it.

My goals for the day? Write a blog post, beat my high score of Bejeweled Blitz, and make a facebook page for this site.

Note to self- Don’t forget to make a facebook page today, do laundry.
